Ingólfur Þorsteinsson caught and killed outlaws who had raided Haukagil.
More: Outlaws and robbers posed a difficult problem. They stole a quantity of food from Haukagil, and Ólafur of Haukagil enlisted the help of Ingólfur Þorsteinsson, grandson of Ingimundur the Aged. Ingólfur set off with fourteen men and traced the robbers’ tracks to a shieling on the heath. Ingólfur took two flat stones and tied one on his chest and the other on his back. He then broke his way into the shieling, waving his sword Ættartangi, killing one man behind him and one in front with a single pass, and slaying a total of five men. He was wounded in the fight, and died the following summer of his wounds.
At his death Ingólfur was chieftain of Vatnsdalur.
