Húfuhylur (Cap Pool)
Þorgrímur skinnhúfa (“Leathercap”) plunged into Húfuhylur (Cap Pool), fleeing from Jökull.
More: Þorgrímur skinnhúfa (“Leathercap”), who lived at Hjallaland, had magical powers and was disliked. He fought beside Már of Másstaðir in a battle at Kársnes against the sons of Ingimundur. Þorgrímur fled the battlefield, pursued by Jökull, who came close enough to reach him, and his sword cut off all it reached, which was both his buttocks.”The place has been called Húfuhylur (Cap Pool) ever since.
Húfuhylur is near the boundary between Eyjólfsstaðir and Hvammur. Kárnsnes is believed to be the riverbank above, as the similarly-named Kornsá river flows into the Vatnsdalsá river opposite.
